Today, we did Lesson #1 in the Practice Booklet. Please do this lesson at home if you are absent. Use your notes and/or textbook if you don't understand a question. Sheets are in the Math Google Classroom.
I introduced our new Computation Challenge. In the Math Google Classroom, there are 6 addition and subtraction questions. Each week there will be new questions and I will be keeping track of who is doing the questions with a chart that is on the whiteboard. If you are absent, please do week 1 only and send me a picture of the work and your answers. Do NOT use a calculator, only to check the answers after. If you get one wrong, please do it again.
***The prize is a sticker and a gold coin(which can be turned in for a candy)
****S.S.-We started a Ch. 5 Local Government Jigsaw project today. What that means is that you and your quad have been given a small section of the chapter (check the slides shared with you to see your material).
Instead of me teaching it, you and your group will research and deliver the info. You become the TEACHERS!!!! (Sorry, no pay!)
*It does not mean that you just reread off the slides. You actually have to teach it which means not only do you know the info. really well, but you teach it in a fun, engaging way.
*Please make contact with the people in your group and definately work on this at home as the kids here need your help. I recommend texting or phoning those quad mates tonight.
You will have the rest of the week to get this project completed and you will be teaching it to the class next week!
Science- Today the kids will be making a Slideshow for the following parts:
*Chromatography (analysis of ink)
*Graphology (analysis of printing/handwriting)
*Footprints/shoe prints
Extra:Soil analysis and fabric analysis
These are all methods that police use to find criminals. These types of evidence are very important.
***TASK: make a slide show explaining each of these methods. You will obviously need to research and search for the info. You can add pictures and videos etc. This will be due by beginning of next week.

Week #2 Computation
Starting this week, I will be posting weekly computation questions. They are NOT for homework, but I strongly recommend that the kids take the time to answer the questions. With weekly practice, they will start to get more proficient and confident in doing these kind of math questions. Please remember that a portion of the Math PAT (in June) will be math computations(no calculators allowed!) Please encourage your son/daughter to complete these weekly questions. They can do the work and write the answers on a piece of paper and bring in in at some point in the week. They will then check their answers and get a gold coin which can be turned in for a treat. Thx!

Thx!
